Community Hackathon and Webinar

Hackathon

In December 2022, we hosted the first ever Hackathon at Carlmont High School. We partnered with FTC Team 199 Carlmont Robotics to organize the event. 36 teams and 90 participants across the Bay Area joined the event.

Although the event targeted beginner coders with little programming experience, we were thrilled to see the creativity and problem solving skills displayed by all the teams. The enthusiasm at the event is contagious!

We want to thank all of our volunteers who helped us organize this amazing event. We hope to host another community hackathon with mid-level programmers in the fall of 2023

Virtual AI Webinar

Artificial Intelligence has been at the forefront of technology advancement in recent years. AI has broad applications include advanced web search engines (e.g. Google Search), recommendation systems (used by YouTube, Amazon), understanding human speech (such as Siri and Alexa), self-driving cars, generative tools (such as ChatGPT), and competing at the highest level on games (such as chess and Go). In order to bring more awareness of AI, its applications, opportunities and concerns, we invited Dr. Li Chen, an industry AI expert from Meta, to discuss AI in Digital.

Advertising. More than 80 middle and high school participants joined the virtual webinar. It has been an eye-opening event which helped expand our thinking of technology application in real life and be mindful of both its power and potential drawbacks.
